Assignment # 30 is to visit a local woodland, and though the one in this photo is not exactly local (it's in Washington near Mount Baker), I thought it would fit this assignment perfectly.
The old growth forest was full of huge trees that we just don't see here in this part of Texas. The sun was shining through the trees to create interest and contrast, and the ground cover of pine needles and lichens on the boulders add texture.
There is a wooded park near my house that will be my next stop for this assignment, but it'll have to wait until early April when things start growing again. Right now, everything in the woods here is brown!
